What Can I Expect During My First Visit to a Chiropractor?
Your first visit to Family Chiropractic will be friendly, educational, and enlightening. After you are greeted by a friendly face, you can expect to complete a health history questionnaire and "new patient" paperwork. If you have access to a fax machine we can fax you the paperwork so you can have it ready when you arrive. You will then view a brief video explaining what you can expect from your chiropractic experience before you consult with the doctor. This consultation is your opportunity to express your health concerns and expectations, and to ask any questions you may have pertaining to the matter. It is also for the Chiropractor to express his role in your health care and discuss your health prognosis. A chiropractic exam will be performed which may include postural analysis, range of motion assessment, orthopedic testing, reflex assessments, muscle testing, and a specific Chiropractic evaluation. In some cases x-rays may be necessary to determine an exact diagnosis. Digital x-rays can be done at our office. If you already have x-rays, MRI, or CAT scan, you should bring those with you for the doctor to see. The doctor will go over the results of the exam and x-rays with you. Then, depending on your situation, the doctor may give you an adjustment to begin your healing process. Adjustments shouldn't be painful, and matter of fact, most people think they feel GREAT! Depending on your condition, the doctor will outline recommendations for you to achieve maximum benefits and optimal health. This initial visit typically only takes 45-60 minutes. If you have any questions prior to your visit, please call us at (812)298-9800.
